Though it still sits in third place in Division I behind Syracuse and West Genesee, the Baldwinsville ice hockey team still finds itself in a mad search for consistency.
Another example of this up-and-down nature was last Tuesday’s game against Ithaca at Lysander Arena, where the Bees absorbed a 3-2 defeat to the Little Red.
Twice in the first period, B’ville found the net thanks to goals by Braden Lynch and Matt Speelman, yet that 2-1 advantage would not hold.
Throughout the last two period, Ithaca managed to absorb all the pressure the Bees threw at them, and single goals in each period by the Little Red got them in front despite the work of B’ville goalie Jon Schirmer.
Looking to recover Friday against visiting Watertown IHC, the Bees did so in impressive fashion, rolling to a 6-1 victory over the Cavaliers.
It was Military Appreciation Night at Lysander, B’ville lending support to the Kyle Schneider Foundation and also raising money for Clear Path For Veterans.
Much of the winning margin was built in the first two periods, B’ville getting in front 5-1 led again by Lynch, who put up a pair of goals and added an assist.
Brett Collier and Ryan Dickinson both had one goal and one assist, with Tyler Derito getting two assists. Goals also went to Alex Pompo and Nick Purdy, with Speelman and Luke Hoskin adding assists.
B’ville would enter this week tied for third with Rome Free Academy in Division I, each of them with 4-1-1 league records, as the Bees would host Cicero-North Syracuse on Tuesday and host Fairport Saturday night.
