A strong opening month for the Cazenovia boys indoor track and field team concluded with its second-place finish in the morning session of Saturday’s George Constantino Memorial Invitational at SRC Arena.
Picking up 84 points, the Lakers topped everyone in the 17-team field except Jamesville-DeWitt, who was victorious with 99 points.
Dalton Sevier was victorious in the high jump, able to clear 6 feet as Dylan Albicker was fourth and Dylan Anderson fifth, each of them topping 5’6”. Then Sevier added another title in the pole vault when he topped 11 feet with fewer misses than Baldwinsville’s Aidan Priest.
On the 200-meter oval, Cazenovia was victorious in the 4×400 relay by having Joe Spires, Andrew Kent, Cormac Race and Slater DeLeon finish in three minutes, 42.29 seconds, more than five seconds ahead of J-D’s 3:47.51. Kent, Spires, DeLeon and Charles Kubinec were second (1:37.90) to J-D (1:36.88) in the 4×200 relay.
Spires also got third in the 55-meter dash in 6.92 seconds, with DeLeon sixth in exactly seven seconds. Kent’s time of 1:28.75 in the 600-meter run was topped only by CBA’s Joel Gaffney (1:27.71).
Jared Smith took fifth place in the 1,000-meter run in 2:46.82 and sixth place in the 1,600-meter run in 4:43.83. Stanley Angus, Cassidy Gilmore, Dan Millson and Alex Lansing were fourth in the 4×800 relay in 9:47.04.
Mike Senehi ran 3,200 meters in 11:12.06 for sixth place as Connor Wilson finished seventh in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.74 seconds. Gordan Wester had a sixth-place weight throw of 40”11 3/4” and was 10th in the shot put.
Later, in the afternoon session, Chittenango got 16 points on both sides. Parker Tedford was third in the boys 600 in 1:33.47, with Kenny Matthews sixth in the 300-meter dash. The Bears were sixth in the 4×200 as Nate Vivelo took sixth place in the shot put.
Lauren Suppe ran to third in the girls 600 I 1:48.49 as Kiara Waite took sixth place. Piper Beckwith was seventh in the girls 1,500-meter run as the Bears finished fifth in the 4×800.
