Fresh off a strong performance at last weekend’s Salt City Athletic Conference Invitational, the Baldwinsville girls swim team returned home for one more regular-season meet.
The Bees welcomed SCAC’s first-place team, Fayetteville-Manlius, on Tuesday night,, and it featured three victories by B’ville individuals, even as the Hornets prevailed 50-41.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Kali Sacco pulled away from F-M’s Lindsay Mathews, prevailing in two minutes, 16.94 seconds as Mathews settled for second place in 2:20.24.
Not done yet, Sacco would also claim victory in the 100 butterfly, dominating that race as she posted 1:04.19 to the 1:12.90 by the Hornets’ Abbey Maring.
Saving her best work for the 100 backstroke, Ashley Konz went 1:03.78 to hold off a strong challenge from F-M’s Emma Luttrell, who got second place in 1:05.22. Konz also finished third in the 50 freestyle in 26.90 seconds.
Clare Burke nearly won the 100 freestyle, going 1:00.28 to the 59.54 from the Hornets’ Meghan Seidberg. Burke, Sacco, Konz and Madeline Sauro went 2:04.43 in the 200 freestyle relay and had a time of 4:08.14 in the 400 freestyle relay.
B’ville still has a trip to Jamesville-DeWitt next Tuesday before settling down to prepare for the Nov. 8 Section III Class A championships.
