The Wildcats went to Baldwinsville last Tuesday, the game serving as a fund-raiser for brain cancer awareness. All proceeds from concessions, T-shirts and other donations went to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, and more than $2,000 was raised.

To its credit, WG did shut out the Bees in the second half and got on the board thank to Marlee Pontello’s goal on a penalty kick with four minutes left, which made the final score 3-1 in B’ville’ favor.
WG then beat Rome Free Academy by that same 3-1 margin on Thursday, with Ana Castro, Emily Dunning and Shannon Foster putting home the Wildcats’ goals as Caitlin Mills and Liz Croft combined for seven saves.
In Saturday’s game against Elmira (Section IV), WG prevailed 2-0, with one goal in each half as Samantha Snyder and Sarah Petrus converted, freshman Eva Poissant added an assist and the duo of Croft and Mills got eight total saves.
Even more impressive for the Wildcats was the way it played on Sunday against reigning state Class B champion Chenango Forks, unleashing its attack on the Blue Devils while prevailing in a 6-2 decision.
Dunning led the way for WG, earning a three-goal hat trick, while Petrus, Poissant and Chrissy Van Allen also earned goals.
Elsewhere in local girls soccer, Skaneateles had to travel Saturday to face undefeated Clinton, who proceeded to rip past the Lakers 7-0 as Maddie Luke scored three goals and one assist to pace Clinton, Avery Maxam adding two goals and two assists.
