Six consecutive victories have planted the Baldwinsville boys swim team in second place in the Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division, trailing only Liverpool, who gave the Bees its lone defeat on nov. 29.
The streak continued last Monday night, B’ville hosting Cicero-North Syracuse and winning all but two events in the course of a 50-42 victory over the Northstars.
As a starting point, the Bees were quite quick in the 200-yard medley relay as Alex Hiltbrand, Nick Schultz, John Licciardello and Bailey Ludden gained victory in one minute, 43.62 seconds.
Hiltbrand went from there to a 200 individual medley title in 2:09.58 as Evan Bohman (2:26.48) finished second. Then, in the 100 backstroke, Hiltbrand got first place in 58.64 seconds, with Ludden (1:04.69) second.
Licciardello needed 2:01.69 to beat out Tristan Miranda (2:06.49) in the 200 freestyle as Schultz, after prevailing in the 50 freestyle in 23.90 seconds over C-NS’s Logan Petralia (24.02), went to the 100 breaststroke and posted a time of 1:02.10.
Bohman beat the field in the 500 freestyle in 5:44.60 as Licciardello, John Burns, Harrison Meyers and Harrison German were second (1:41.13) to C-NS (1:40.07) in the 200 freestyle relay. To close the meet, John Burns joined Hiltbrand, Licciardello and Ludden to go 3:33.67 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Three nights later, B’ville went to Oswego and made it six wins in a row, Schultz and Hiltbrand each finishing first in two individual races during a 99-79 victory over the Buccaneers.
In a fast 100 freestyle, Schultz, in 52.79 seconds, held off Ludden (53.28 seconds) for the top spot, Schultz going on to swim the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.84 as Eric Smith (1:17.62) finished second.
Hiltbrand would beat the field in the 50 freestyle in 22.60 seconds, and move to the 100 butterfly where, in 58.96 seconds, he held off Burns, who was second in 59.55 seconds for B’ville.
Ludden, in 2:19.84, went 1-2 with Meyers (2:21.84) in the 200 individual medley as John Licciardello finished first in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.31. Miranda, in 5:33.84, was second in the 500 freestyle as Meyers (5:43.15) finished third.
The meet opened with Schultz, Hiltbrand, Licciardello and Ludden tearing their way to a time of 1:44.04 in the 200 medley relay, and would end in the 400 freestyle relay with Burns joining Licciardello, Ludden and Hiltbrand to win in 3:34.86.
