In a sign of what it could still do, the Liverpool boys bowling team went to Fulton last Monday afternoon and claimed a 2-1 victory over the Red Raiders.
The level of play on both sides was quite elevated as Brandon Davis, pacing the Warriors, shot a 718 series, with a 249 high game, just ahead of the 714 series by Fulton’s Anthony DeMasi that included a 277 high game.
Zak Ormsby’s 266 game led to a 686 set for Liverpool as Josh Winzens finished with a three-game total of 678. Devin Roberson’s 587 series included a 224 high game as Deacon Roberson added a 523 set.
All this was enough to hold off Fulton, who aside from DeMasi had a 636 series from Joe Benevidez and a 622 series from Mitch Donaldson as Aiden Franco’s 239 game led to a 573 series.
This helped make up for the Liverpool girls’ close 2-1 loss to Fulton, where Ashley Hardy had a 516 series and Makenzi Ormsby’s 207 game led to a 510 set, but both were far back of the Red Raiders’ Alexis Ingersoll, who shot a 254 game on her way to a 700 series.
Liverpool then took on Cortland Wednesday afternoon, winning the boys match 3-0 over the Purple Tigers, but taking another 2-1 defeat in the girls portion.
Meanwhile each of the Cicero-North Syracuse bowling teams were in strong form as they both added to their win totals in advance of the holiday break.
The Northstars hosted West Genesee last Tuesday at Strike-N-Spare Lanes and won each match by 3-0 margins, the boys improving to 3-2 in league matches to sit right behind Baldwinsville and Liverpool in the standings.
The C-NS girls moved to 4-1 in the SCAC Metro division, and first place in the standings, with its sweep of West Genesee as Jessaia McGriff led the Northstars with a 563 series and high game of 192.
Elianna Pitts’ 199 game led to a 476 series, which just beat out the 475 series from Trinity Drozdz that included a 180 high game. Kathryn Artz added a 414 series as Katie Cloonan got a 391 set. WG’s Gina Neri led her side with a 485 series.
