Back on Dec. 4, the Fayetteville-Manlius boys swim team earned its first victory of the season, taking on Cicero-North Syracuse at Cazenovia College and pushing its way past the Northstars 84-78.
Tanner Eisenhut again was a central figure, first by helping Richard Wan, Lucas Wieres and Nate Montgomery as the Hornets won the 200-yard medley relay in one minute, 55.10 seconds by one-hundredth of a second over C-NS’s 1:51.11.
Then, on his own, Eisenhut prevailed in the 200 freestyle in 1:55.46, and would later swim the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.19. Wieres was victorious in the 100 butterfly in 59.84 seconds.
Montgomery, meanwhile, would sweep the sprints, taking the 50 freestyle in 25.41 seconds to the 25.48 for C-NS’s Seaver Schultz, and then edging the Northstars’ Bruce Hepel, 54.51 seconds to 55.03, in the 100 freestyle.
Miguel Aldana got first place in the 500 freestyle in 5:39.91 as Quinn Smith went 2:17.47 to win the 200 individual medley, while also posting 1:05.64 in the 100 backstroke, just behind Wan’s 1:05.35.
Eisenhut, Montgomery, Nico Foster and Chris Ziobro were first in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:42.99, again inches ahead of C-NS (1:43.07). Wan, Wieres, Josh Maring and Maximillian Du went 3:55.76 in the 400 freestyle relay, just ahead of the Northstars’ 3:56.09.
Then F-M ran into defending sectional Class A champion Liverpool on Dec. 7 and lost, 99-82, to the Warriors, not winning an event until the 500 freestyle, where Aldana improved to 5:34.72.
Eisenhut had the quickest time of 1:04.50 in the 100 breaststroke, but in 2:05.30 was just behind Liverpool’s Griffin Merkling (2:04.99) in the 200 IM.
Montgomery was second in the 50 freestyle in 24.41 seconds, with Tristan Wellner second in the 100 butterfly in 59.33 seconds. In the 200 freestyle, relay, Montgomery, Foster, Du and Eric Bang finished in 1:42.67.
F-M now took on New Hartford last Tuesday, and prevailed 101-83 over the Spartans with two more wins from Eisenhut, who swam the 100 butterfly in 58.24 seconds as part of a 1-2-3 sweep with Wieres and Smith and was first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.21.
Montgomery won the 50 freestyle in 24.31 seconds, with Du going 2:04.60 in the 200 freestyle and Smith taking the 200 IM in 2:18.52. Aldana was victorious in the 500 freestyle in 5:37.99 as Eisenhut, Wan, Wieres and Foster won the 200 medley relay in 1:51.92.
Meanwhile, Jamesville-DeWitt/CBA was looking to break a rare skid when it went to West Genesee last Tuesday, and it did so, the Red Rams hanging on for a 94-92 victory over the Wildcats.
Chris Bushnell went 55.39 seconds in the 100 backstroke and 56.54 seconds to take the 100 butterfly, with Conlan Rourke prevailing in the 50 freestyle (24.02 seconds) and 100 freestyle (53.11 seconds). Lucas Dekaney won the diving competition with 306.30 points.
Nathan Chen, second in the 100 breaststroke, won the 200 IM in 2:14.74 and helped Rourke, Bushnell and Colby Porter go 1:47.37 in the 200 medley relay. Then, in the200 freestyle relay, Rourke, Bushnell, Chen and Liam Kaplan won in 1:37.47.
Then, with its own match against C-NS on Friday, J-D/CBA prevailed 97-83, with Bushnell going 56.80 seconds in the 100 backstroke and also taking the 50 freestyle in 23.99 seconds.
Rourke was first in the 200 freestyle in 1:56.55 and beat the field in the 100 freestyle in 52.29 seconds as Chen also won twice, going 1:08.42 in the 100 breaststroke and 5:49.06 in the 500 freestyle. Dekaney earned 278.15 points for another diving title.
Working together, Kaplan, Rourke, Bushnell and Chen swam the 200 freestyle relay in 1:38.24 after Colby Porter joined Bushnell, Chen and Kaplan to go 1:51.56 in the 200 medley relay.
F-M, meanwhile, moved to 3-2 with a 92-83 win over Weedsport where Eisenhut went 5:13.33 in the 500 freestyle and 2:08.94 in the 200 IM, helped by Montgomery, who won the 50 freestyle in 24.07 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 55.27 seconds to Du’s 57.29.
Smith was first in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.16, with Wellner going 1:00.72 in the 100 butterfly and Michael Magee, with 187.35 points, edging Connor Gleasman (187.00 points) in diving.
Foster joined Smith, Eisenhut and Wieres as F-M took the 200 medley relay in 1:53.09, this before a 200 freestyle relay where Montgomer, Du, Foster and Bang won in 1:42.97. Eisenhut, Montgomery, Du and Wieres swam the 400 freestyle relay in 3:45.80.
