Now the West Genesee girls swim moved into the heart of its schedule, with two meets in a three-night span and a chance to build its record to 3-0.
The Wildcats first hosted Oswego last Tuesday and wrapped things up with three races to go, building an insurmountable margin and eventually defeating the Buccaneers 93-81.
Maddie Zapisek won two individual races, covering the 200-yard individual medley in two minutes, 20.30 seconds and then gaining first place in the 100 butterfly.
Hannah Murdoch was victorious in the 50 freestyle in 26.69 seconds after she paired with Maggie Smith, Haley Hagadorn and Miki Riley to take the 200 medley relay in 2:02.49.
Anna Ivery, in 59.26 seconds, held off Smith (1:01.64) in the 100 freestyle, also pairing with Zapisek, Murdoch and Julianna Lisi to go 1:48.84 in the 200 freestyle relay.
Hagadorn had the quickest 100 breaststroke time of 1:16.38 as Annie Marnell, with 184.50 points, held off Cassie Lenhardt (178.15) in the diving competition.
Two nights later, WG faced New Hartford, and all of its top swimmers remained in good form as the Wildcats pulled away for a 105-81 victory over the Spartans.
After helping Smith, Hagadorn and Murdoch take the 200 medley relay in 2:01.81, Ivery went 26.47 seconds as part of a 1-2 finish with Murdoch (26.68) in the 50 freestyle, and then was first in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.30.
Zapisek also won twice, zooming to 2:01.25 in the 200 freestyle and then tackling the longest race, the 500 freestyle, where in 5:24.08 she beat New Hartford’s Emma Burke (5:34.51) by more than 10 seconds.
Murdoch pulled out the 100 butterfly in 1:00.21 over the Spartans’ Nikolette Nesci (1:00.42), with Smith prevailing in the 100 backstroke in 1:08.91 as Hagadorn was victorious in the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.34.
During the 200 freestyle relay, Zapisek, Hagadorn, Murdoch and Lisi went 1:50.29, and in the closing 400 freestyle relay Zapisek helped in a fourth victory, pairing with Ivery, Smith and Taylor McFadden to go 4:02.12.
WG had a chance to build a longer win streak this week with meets Tuesday against Syracuse City at Nottingham High School and on Friday against visiting Mexico.
