The girls golfers from Cazenovia and Chittenango met for a second time this month, and like the first encounter it went in the Bears’ favor.
The 265-288 decision at Woodcrest Golf Club included a top individual score of 51 from the Lakers’ Sophie Clancy. Yet no other Cazenovia player improved upon Josie Avery’s 71 as Coralee Everett shot 63 and Shannon Koegel 64 to lead Chittenango.
This helped the Bears bounce back from a 257-265 defeat to Bishop Grimes on May 11, where Everett had a 63 and Koegel added a 64, both of them trailing the Cobras’ Brina Deppoliti (56) and Olivia Minor (59).
At Drumlins on Tuesday, Chittenango lost, 193-243, to CBA. Koegel had a 54, ahead of Haley Walters (60) and Emily Russell (61) as the Brothers got a 39 from Meghan McKeen and a 47 from Paige Snyder.
They would all go to Woodcrest on Wednesday for the Onondaga High School League tournament, and here Cazenovia would shoot a team score of 493 to finish ahead of Chittenango (520) and take fifth place overall.
Individually, Clancy shot a 104, while Koegel had a 119. The team title went to Marcellus with 410 to CBA’s second-place 419 as McKeen (84) was three shots ahead of the Mustangs’ Mary Colella (87) for top individual honors.
The Cazenovia boys golf team prevailed last Monday, handling Solvay 243-289 at Cazenovia Country Club.
Alex Pezzi shot a 36, three ahead of the Bearcats’ Noah Capella, while Ryan Modzeleski was third with a 44. Jacob Wells, with a 53, was just ahead of Antonio Beneditti’s 54 and the 56 from Will Huftalen.
