Each of the West Genesee bowling teams faced Fulton last Monday afternoon at Solvay Recreation Alleys, unable to get a point in either match against the Red Raiders.
Even with Noah Ackerman’s 167 game and Ben Conroy’s 163 game, the boys Wildcats had a 3-0 defeat to Fulton, who featured Bradley Martin as he shot a 627 series (220 high game) and Jason Southworth, whose 215 game led to a 567 set.
During the WG girls team’s 3-0 defeat, Gina Neri shot the best series of 401, with a high game of 151. Maddy Lux, Katie Drogo and Emily Shields each shot 145 games as Fulton got a 517 series from Megan Guernsey and a 512 series from Lexi Ingersoll.
A day later, each WG sides hosted the combined Syracuse City team and prevailed in 3-0 decisions. Neri improved to a 458 series on the girls side as that included a 176 high game.
Meanwhile, in the boys match, Conroy’s 190 game led to a 512 series, just ahead of Ackerman’s 479 series that included a high game of 195. Jon Narvaez led Syracuse with a three-game total of 437.
Solvay returned to action last Tuesday at Strike-N-Spare Lanes, where the boys team beat Bishop Grimes 6-0. The match included four Bearcats series of 420 or better.
Trent McLaughlin, with a 445 series, led that consistent effort as Nate Gardner (443 series) was two pins behind. Zach Mashaw, with a 421 series, was one pin ahead of Denis Mujcic as Grimes’ Joe Knapp led all individuals with a 586 series and 215 high game.
Solvay’s girls stayed unbeaten in the OHSL Liberty division with a 7-0 shutout of Homer Thursday afternoon. Jessica Birdslow’s steady 595 series included a 215 high game, while Anastasia LaFlair had a 443 series and Rebecca Ducey contributed a 432 set. Julia Day paced the Trojans with a 535 series.
Meanwhile, the Solvay boys lost to Homer in another 7-0 decision. McLaughlin gave the Bearcats a 212 high game and 533 series, while Mujcic had a 505 series. The Trojans got a 618 series from Richard Lambrecht and a 611 series from Matt Hurteau.
