Things could not have gone any more productive for the Baldwinsville indoor track and field teams as it swept both the boys and girls titles in the morning session of last Saturday’s Jack Morse Kickoff Meet at SRC Arena.
With 90 points, the girls Bees were well clear of runner-up Liverpool (72.33 points) and West Genesee (72 points), but it took 84 points for the B’ville boys to hold off Liverpool (79 points) and win there, too.
Right from the start, the B’ville girls picked up wins as Adrianna Straughter, Olivia Creelman, Maya Hewitt and Makayla Spicer beat the field in the 4×800 relay in 10 minutes, 52.49 seconds as no one else broke the 11-minute mark
In the triple jump, Maggie Walikis had a second-place leap of 30 feet 9 inches, but that, along with Creelman’s 28’8 ¾”, created a winning 59’5 ¾” that beat Fulton (57’9 ¾”) for top honors. Hewitt would win the pole vault, clearing 7’6”.
Elizabeth Fawwaz, with her second-place time of 5:15.26 in the 1,500-meter run, joined Annabelle Horan, Leah Carpenter and Claire Walker for a second-place finish in the team portion in 22:32.66.
Straughter cleared 5’2” in the high jump, one inch out of first place, as she and Karen Ekure topped 9’10” between them, again in second place to Liverpool’s 10’1”.
Queen Raynor, Briana Natoli, Allyson Surowick and Brook Wirtheim were second (2:01.28) to Hannibal (1:57.26) in the 4×200 relay. Raynor and Peyton Fleming were fifth in the 55-meter dash.
Tina Bartelli, Vanessa Nocevski, Emme Foote and Olivia Mucsolino were fourth in the 4×400 relay in 4:37.90. Fleming, Ekure, Anna Demer and Patricia Conlan were fourth in the distance medley relay in 4:38.81.
Danielle Marsell and Jenna Wallace rose to second place in the shot put, heaving it 54’1 ¾” between them. Straughter and Olivia Waite were second in the long jump with total leaps of 29’ ¾” , one inch behind West Genesee’s 29’1 ¾”, while Anna Miller and Maddie Chetney were third in the weight throw as their best tosses added up to 41’8 ¼”.
On the boys side, B’ville was victorious in the 4×400 relay as Josh Scholten, Michael Lawrence, Nick Kruger and Evan Daprano posted 3:44.74, well clear of runner-up Jordan-Elbridge (3:51.89) and the field.
The mile relay featured a 1-2 Bees finish as Ben Timmons, in 4:41.07, edged Connor McManus (4:41.96) as that pair, along with Sam Kellner and Joe Licameli, easily won the team portion in 19:10.14.
To win the distance medley, Zion Hayes, Adam Davis, Peter Fiorini and Evan DaPrano posted 3:44.51, dominating the field as second-place Auburn was more than 15 seconds behind.
Nate Jaquint, paired with Jae Lee, would have total long jumps of 36’2 ¼” that topped Homer (35’3 1/4”) by 11 inches for the top spot. Jaquint also won the high jump, clearing 6’2”, as he Josh Scholten were second (11’2”) to West Genesee (11’4”) in the team event.
Also, Hayes was second in the individual 55 sprint in 7.01 seconds and paired with Cole Peters for second place (14.47 seconds) behind West Genesee (14.05 seconds) on the team side. Hayes, Peters, Lee and Judson Fletcher were sixth in the 4×200, with Fletcher getting sixth-place points thanks to his weight throw of 39’9 ¼”.
Alex Garcia and Cameron Majchrzak threw the shot put 83’4 ¾” between them, just behind Liverpool’s winning 83’8”. Kruger and Aidan Priest were third in the triple jump with 70’4 ¼”, with Priest and Aaron Sprague topping 18 feet for second place in the pole vault.
Allyson Surowick was second in the individual 55-meter hurdles in 9.67 seconds behind Liverpool’s Kali Hayes (9.57), with Jaquint second (8.32 seconds) to another Warriors competitor, Nazir Murray (8.22 seconds), in the boys 55 hurdles.
