Possessing a full lineup proved quite important for the West Genesee wrestling team when it took on Marcellus last Wednesday night. The two neighbors were fairly even on the mat, but the Wildcats still prevailed 48-30.
The Mustangs had to forfeit four bouts, amounting to 24 points, more than the final outcome as, in the 10 contested bouts, Marcellus claimed six to WG’s four.
Tim Okhman got Marcellus going at 126 pounds, edging Ejarian Burgin in a 2-1 decision before Cahal Donovan (132 pounds) pinned Patrick Ivery in 2:30 and Jack Santariello (138 pounds) got a second-period fall over Tanner Buza.

As for J-E, it was in the Rebel Duals, and won close decisions over Oswego (42-38), Skaneateles (48-39) and Moravia (45-40) before defeats to APW/Pulaski (54-24) and Canton (57-28).
Most of the bouts against Oswego were forfeits, but J-E got pins from Derek Quigley (120) over Trey Seguin and Marion Quigley (145) over Hugh Randell, but the Skaneateles match had far more mat competition.
