The small group of Baldwinsville girls swimmers that worked hard throughout a challenging 2017 season would get one last chance to compete together during last weekend’s Section III Class A championships at Nottingham High School.
Grace Skapura would make her way to sixth place in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:07.70, Skapura had the ninth-fastest time in the 100 breaststroke going into the sectional meet, but would settle for 14th place here in 1:20.32.
Kali Sacco arrived as the no. 6 seed in the 100-yard butterfly and the no. 7 seed in the 200 individual medley, but ended up 11th in both events, going 1:09.42 in the 100 fly after she was 11th in the 200 IM in 2:29.51.
Clare Burke was seeded 10th in the 200 and 500 freestyle. She would get 10th place in the 500 freestyle in 5:46.68 after going 5:51.63 during the season, while finishing 12th in the 200 freestyle, though Burke lowered her best time of the season from 2:13.05 to 2:10.38.
In the relays, B’ville had Sacco, Skapura, Emily Spaulding and Alyse Baker took seventh place in the 200 medley in 2:08.53, improving upon the 2:10.21 it had recorded during the season.
Skapura, Baker, Burke and Aryanna Spaudling were eighth in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:55.74 Emily Spaulding went 1:17.76 in the 100 backstroke and finished 16th, while Baker was 19th in the 50 freestyle and 19th in the 100 freestyle, too.
