The Baldwinsville girls swim team made its way to Nottingham High School last Saturday and took part in the inaugural Salt City Athletic Conference Invitational, which served two purposes.
First, there were the races, of course, but also the league got together to raise money for the American Red Cross and its hurricane relief efforts in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. More than $2,000 was raised.
Kaili Sacco twice had top-10 finishes for the Bees, earning sixth place in the 200-yard individual medley in two minutes, 30.41 seconds and making it to eighth place in the 100 butterfly in 1:11.21.
Clare Burke was seventh in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:51.63, her best time of the season by more than 10 seconds, and also took 12th place in the 200 freestyle in 2:13.30.
Grace Skapura was 15th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:22.01 and 19th in the 100 freestyle, while also helping Burke, Alyse Baker and Bryanna Spaulding take 11th place in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:56.75.
