Rachel Wells and Rylee Fishkin provided the leadership for the Jamesville-DeWitt/F-M girls gymnastics team as it went to Central Square last Thursday night and registered a 137.50-119.65 victory over the Redhawks.
Wells prevailed with 35.7 all-around points, including a 9.0 on floor exercise and 8.8 on uneven bars, an event Fishkin won with a 9.0 to go with a winning 9.2 floor routine as she picked up 34.75 all-around points.
Mia Potamianos was third in the all-around standings with 33.45 points, helped by her own 9.0 score on the floor and an 8.1 on the vault. Ana Dieroff scored 9.0 on the floor, too, while contributing an 8.4 on the beam.
In a closely-fought meet on Sept. 21, East Syracuse Minoa/Liverpool got fine efforts from Delia Korszeneiewski and Madeline Crooke on the way to a narrow 122-119.05 victory over Central Square.
Korszeneiewski won three different events, scoring 9.0 on balance beam, 8.7 on floor exercise and 8.1 on the vault, also tying Central Square’s Sage Wolfe for first on uneven bars with a 7.8 as she finished with 33.6 all-around points.
Not far behind, Crooke picked up 31.0 points, helped by an 8.6 floor routine and 8.3 on the beam. Jordan Winans, with a 7.8 on the floor, made it a 1-2-3 finish for ESM/Liverpool as Delaney Calabria scored 7.6 on uneven bars.
This improved ESM/Liverpool’s record to 2-1 as it took on Whitesboro Friday, where it lost to the Warriors 141.1-117.2.
Taylor Bushey dazzled for Whitesboro with an all-around score of 36.6 that included a 9.35 on the floor, a 9.3 on uneven bars and 9.25 on the vault. Tiffany Khiamdavanh had 8.75 on the vault and uneven bars to go with a 9.3 score on the floor. Kiara Khiamdavanh won the beam with 8.9 to Bushey’s 8.7.
