Though other matches (including ones involving unbeaten Fayetteville-Manlius and Christian Brothers Academy) on Monday got postponed by impending storms, Jamesville-DeWitt did get in its match against Homer and, improving to 8-0 on the season, the Red Rams shut out the Trojans 7-0.
That J-D got all seven points against a Homer side that entered the day with a 5-1 record was possible because, in first singles, Somil Aggarwal survived a long third-set tie-breaker to beat Vince Saraceno 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (10-8). Druv Nanavati also worked hard to beat Matt Pelowski 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
Otherwise, Essex Glowaki routed Nate Potter 6-1, 6-1 and Harshal Nanavati beat Sean Powers 6-0, 6-1. In doubles, the closest match came when Dan Frank and Dhruv Thota beat Julian Ponirakis and Adam Brown 6-1, 6-4.
The teams of Robert Dotterer-Peter Hatton and Tyler Glowaki-Ishan Gajra also won in straight sets, with Dotterer and Hatton beating Ben Herman and Alex Cottrell 6-1, 6-1 and Glowaki and Gajra blanking Ethan Laundry and Ethan Lunas 6-0, 6-0.
Then J-D played on Wednesday and handled East Syracuse Minoa by that same 7-0 margin. Aggarwal, Drun Nanavati and Harshal Nanavati each won by the same 6-1, 6-0 margins over, respectively, Bryant Pham, Kelvin Cheng and Ben Houseman, with Essex Glowaki beating John Pontillo 6-0, 6-1. The doubles teams of Dotterer-Hatton, Gajra-Tyler Glowaki and Frank-Druv Nanavati did not lose a game in any of their matches.
And this led to Thursday’s first-place showdown with Mexico who arrived with an 8-0 record, J-D dropped a point when Druv Nanavati lost a long third-set tie-breaker in a 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (10-8) defeat to John Ocker, but the Red Rams still beat the Tigers 6-1.
Tyler Glowaki, in first singles, beat Joe Ocker 6-1, 6-3, with Essex Glowaki blanking Joey Domicolo 6-0, 6-0 and Harshal Nanavati beating Connor Spurling 6-3, 6-0. In doubles, Frank and Thota had to battle past Dan Mullen and I siah Turo 6-4, 6-4, with Gajra and Eric Benaroch beating Ben Pelow and Brendon Pullen 6-3, 6-3.
F-M was back with a non-league match Wednesday against Cazenovia, and the result was another shutout, the Hornets handling the Lakers 5-0. One match did go to three sets, but Riley Ma handled it, beating Nate Romig 6-0, 3-6, 6-3.
Michael Miller rolled past Orson Sproule 6-0, 6-0, with Jeremy Zhang topping Mitch Romig 6-0, 6-2. In doubles, Chris Lansing and Taran Judge beat Nick Barna and Liam Flannery 6-1, 6-0 as Ravi and Rohan Dhawan got a 6-0, 6-0 win over Teddy Coughlin and Dan Gavilondo.
Then the Hornets blanked Cicero-North Syracuse 7-0 on Thursday, having Ma and Zhang win 6-0, 6-0 matches over, respectively, Jake Tesfai and Evan Harberek, with Tom Miro beating Edwin Hirsh 6-0, 6-1.
Three doubles matches were completed, with Lansing and Judge routed Justin Kegebein and Connor Millias 6-0, 6-1 as Joel Farella and Nolan Chiles beat Trey Nordin-Abbey and James Coral by those exact same totals. The Dhawan brothers roared past Ryan Houser and Jarrod Stranger 6-0, 6-0.
CBA returned on Wednesday and had a close call from Westhill but beat the Warriors 3-2 as, in singles, Dean Vlassis beat Andrew Doner 6-2, 6-1 and Ben Vlassis got past Jackson Bradley 6-1, 6-0 as David Hoag lost, 6-1, 6-3, to Conor Mahoney.
Needing one of the two points in doubles, the Brothers got it from the duo of Tom Daviau and Zach Popp, who needed just two sets to beat Tom Chaddock and Connor Catone 6-1, 6-0. Shivam Nanavati and Milan Gupta lost, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1), to Ryan Rolince and Mike Ferrara.
