Neither of the Baldwinsville track and field teams would stress too much in last Wednesday’s meet against Corcoran at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium, winning each side of the meet by a big margin.
The girls Bees prevailed, 115-26, over the Cougars, with three titles from Adriana Straughter and two titles from Lauren Addario. Having cleared 5 feet in the high jump and gone 15’6” in the long jump, Straughter would take the 100-meter hurdles in 16.37 seconds.
Addario, who won the 100-meter dash in 13.04 seconds, would unleash a top triple jump of 34’10”. It was part of a B’ville sweep of field events as Maya Hewitt topped 7’6” in the pole vault, with Jenna Wallace throwing the discus 87’1” and Danielle Marsell winning the shot put with a throw of 30’10”.
Back on the oval, Karen Ekure went 200 meters in 26.34 seconds as Shylea Dukat roared to first in the 400 hurdles in 1:17.37. Elzabeth Fawwaz took the 800-meter run in 2:41.95 as Patricia Conlan ran 1,500 meters in 5:46 flat and Sarah Rodman won the 3,000-meter run in 12:40.6.
Meanwhile, the B’ville boys nearly shut out Corcoran, winning 124-7 as Adam Davis claimed the 400 sprint in 53.24 seconds and then won the 3,200-meter run in 10:21.17. Ben Timmons won the mile in 4:43.78 and helped the Bees’ 4×400 relay team post 3:44.54. B’ville also won the 4×800 in 9:30.63.
The sprint sweep began with Jack Buis doing the 100 in 11.33 seconds and Kenny Stehle taking the 110 high hurdles in 17.1 seconds before going 58.45 seconds to win the 400 hurdles. Brandon Brown won the 200 in 23.92 seconds as Garrett Vannatta claimed the 800 in 2:07.8.
Austin Catalano followed up a winning long jump of 19’1 ½” by going 40’8 ½” in the triple jump. Gabe Horan threw the discus 126’7” after Judson Fletcher tossed the shot put 42’7 ½”. Jaeho Lee cleared 10’6” in the pole vault as Kevin Starr stopped 5’10” in the high jump.
A big week for both B’ville sides starts Wednesday with a trip to Cicero-North Syracuse, followed two days later by the Bees hosting its annual Arcaro Coed Track Classic.
