Each of the Jordan-Elbridge track and field teams would stay busy with head-to-head meets and an appearance at last Saturday’s Weedsport Invitational, where it finished third in the girls standings with 72 points and sixth in the boys standings with 39 points.
Prior to that, the Eagles, would have wildly varying results in its meet Thursday against Altmar-Parish-Williamstown, the Eagles prevailing 94-46 on the girls side, but taking a 90-51 defeat to the Rebels on the boys side.
Julie Hines led the J-E girls with three individual titles. After winning the 100 sprint in 13.4 seconds, Hines went to the long jump, where she prevailed by going 14’6 ½”, and then added a victory in the high jump by clearing 4’6”.
Mary Elizabeth Dristle topped 7’6” in the pole vault and also helped in a pair of relays, teaming with Abby Gugel, Theresa Dristle and Emma Burns as J-E won the 4×800 in 12:18.0 and also joining Burns, Emily Klock and Madi Hatt as the Eagles took the 4×400 in 4:45 flat.
Burns was victorious in the 400 sprint in 1:03 flat as Hatt went 2:37.7 in the 800 and Klock won the 200 in 27.8 seconds. Gugel cruised to a time of 12:14.4 in the 3,000 as Meagan Jackson had a top triple jump of 28’5”. Abby Fallon took the 100 hurdles in 19.0 seconds and Madi Daly claimed the 1,500 in 5:30.3.
In the boys meet, J-E was thwarted by an APW sweep of the relays, only able to claim a handful of individual titles, two of them by Ethan Kinney, who won the 200 in 23.8 seconds and the 400 sprint in 52.2 seconds.
Russell Hines was first in the mile in 4:54.6 and, amid the Rebels’ domination in field events, Brad Marshall did throw the shot put 46’6” to win there. APW got double wins from Sage Bartlett (high jump, 110 hurdles) and Jordan Mull (100. long jump).
Then, it was on to Weedsport, where in the girls meet Daly and Maggie DeJohn went 1-2 in the 1,500, Daly winning in 5:47.45 and DeJohn second in 5:53.66. Klock took second in the 400 sprint in 1:03.36 as Abby Fallon was third in the 100 hurdles in 18.84 seconds. Megan Jackson went 27’8 ¾” for fourth place in the triple jump.
Fallon did help Klock, Hatt and Julie Hines win the 4×100 relay over Faith Heritage, 53.74 seconds to 54.52, with Daly joining DeJohn, Ayaka Sato and Olivia Minikhen as the Eagles claimed the 4×800 in 12:29.96.
Right after, Gugel, Hines, Hatt and Burns won the 1,600 sprint medley relay in 4:24.64, and the relay fun didn’t end there. Sato and Jackson joined Anastasia Earle and Samantha Hodge as J-E won the 4×100 weight relay in 1:01.98 to Weedsport’s 1:04.23.
In the boys meet at Weedsport, J-E was victorious in the 4×800 relay, where Ethan Kinney, Russell Hines, Dan Jorolemon and Hugh Schrader posted 9:05.35 to beat runner-up Phoenix (9:17.87) by more than 12 seconds.
The Eagles were third in the 1,600 sprint medley relay in 4:11.98 and fourth in the 4×100 in 49.15 seconds. In the 4×400, Ortiz, Logan Kinney, Jordan Gunnip and Ryan Chiaramonte were third in 4:08 flat.
On his own, Hines took third in the boys 400 sprint in 52.75 seconds and sixth in the long jump (17’4”), with Ethan Kinney fifth in the 400 after a sixth-place time of 26.25 seconds in the 200. Anthony Ortiz got third place in the 100 in 13.09 seconds after qualifying for the final in 12.61 seconds. Pat Fordyce was fifth (32’2 ½”) in the triple jump and Austin Cassick took eighth place in the shot put.
