Onondaga — While not quite able to match its winning effort from the Dec. 30 Oscar B. Jensen Holiday Relays, the Baldwinsville boys indoor track and field team did finish second in the afternoon session of last Saturday’s George Constantino Memorial Invitational at SRC Arena.
Earning 65 points, the boys Bees topped everyone in the 14-team field except Cicero-North Syracuse, who won with 120 points. Ironically, the B’ville girls side gained more points (67), but settled for third place behind C-NS (107 points) and Jamesville-DeWitt (87 points) when all the scores were added up.
B’ville got a win from Evan Donhauser in the boys 55-meter hurdles. Posting a time of 7.98 seconds, Donhauser dominated the field, winning by more than half a second over C-NS’s Ed Mahana (8.49 seconds), while N ate Cutie was ninth.
Evan Vannatta went 1:27.48 in the 600-meter run, second to Syracuse ITC’s Solomon Lawrence, who won in 1:26.04. Later, in the 3,200-meter run, Ryan Delola posted 10:15.06, beating everyone except West Genesee’s David Leff, who prevailed in 9:53.09, and in the 1,000-meter run Ethan Craig went 2:50.40 for yet another second-place finish, again with Lawrence (2:38.77) out in front.
Mike Lagana took second place in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet, with Westhill-Bishop Ludden’s Bryan King (11’6”) finishing on top. Judson Fletcher, with a throw of 41 feet 5 inches, gained third place in the shot put. Broc Augustus, Greg Porceng, Tyler Luciano and Mark McCabe paired up to take third place in the 4×400 relay in 3:49.42.
Adam Davis (4:48.05) beat out Denis Keegan (4:48.35) for fifth place in the mile. Keegan, Vannatta, Ben Timmons and Connor McManus were fourth in the 4×800 relay in 9:05.18, while McCabe gained ninth place in the 55-meter dash and Luciano was 11th in the long jump.
B’ville’s girls side was victorious in the 4×400 relay, where Kelley Hull, Katie Wicks, Tina Bartelli and Anna Demer finished in four minutes, 17.59 seconds to hold off C-NS (4:19.02) at the finish line.
continued — As that went on, Hailey Couchman would prevail in the long jump, her top leap of 16 feet 9 inches well clear of West Genesee’s Megan Delia (16’3 ½”) and the field as Marina Blasi (14’9”) finished seventh.
Individually, Hull finished second in the 1,500-meter run in 5:03.51 behind West Genesee’s Carly Benson (4:48.54), with Sarah Rodman fifth in 5:28.23. Sophie Simone finished third in the 3,000-meter run in 11:46.37, just ahead of Leah Carpenter (11:48.20) in fourth place.
Adrianna Straughter tied for second in the high jump, clearing 4’8”, something only C-NS’s Brittany House (4’10”) could top as Kourtnee Allen, who cleared 4’4”, finished sixth. Straugher also gained fourth place in the 55 hurdles in 9.76 seconds, with Haleigh Jaquint seventh, just out of the points.
Anna Miller threw the shot put 28’11 ½”, getting fourth place as Brina Edmonds (28’1”) finished sixth. Mia Bolton took fifth in the 1,000 in 3:18.63, with Elizabeth Fawwaz ninth. Rodman, Madison Dickter, Kayleigh Sattler and Patricia Conlan finished fifth in the 4×800 in 11:08.21.
Jaquint joined Katie Weaver, Hannah Klaben and Katherine Siddall for fourth place in the 4×200 in 1:58.99. Weaver took fifth (8.02 seconds) in the 55 sprint, while Wicks was seventh in the 300, ahead of Klaben (ninth) and Bartelli (10th).
