September is a special month for libraries and their communities around the nation.
Together and individually, we celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month by remembering, relishing and spreading the word about what makes the resources, materials, events and relationships we share with patrons so vital.
This year’s theme selected by the American Library Association is Libraries Are Wonderful!, with a recognizable superhero standing tall on posters and logos: Wonder Woman is reading a book.
Yes, the world of knowledge gained and curiosities satisfied by books found on our shelves and in digital and audio forms are always key choices for LPL cardholders, along with DVDs and CDs on the shelves and movies, music and magazines available for streaming or download online.
Our website also features dozens of databases to help with researching and school projects. Cardholders can set up an account with their card number and a password.
Our librarians are also busy scheduling events, both virtual and, little by little, back on the library grounds as well, keeping with social distancing and state and government safety guidelines. Find the events at calendar.lpl.org.
Our website can be explored at lpl.org.
People of all ages can find something special with a new library card. Parents can sign up children beginning at age 5.
Cards can be signed up for digitally. The link can be found under the Explore>Using the Library tab on our website.
Cards can be secured in person by making a one-hour appointment through LPL Express Visits. Find out how by visiting our website or calling the library at 315-457-0310.
