Ken and Lois Spitzer will be celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary on Dec. 22, 2021. They were married in Ridgewood, N.J. by the father of the bride, Dr. Stanley Stuber.
Ken and Lois met in New York City where Lois was a public health nurse with the Henry Street Settlement and Ken was a medical student at Colombia Physicians and Surgeons. After an internship and residency in ophthalmology and a two-year service in the Army at Fort Benning, Ken went into practice in Syracuse.
They have lived in Fayetteville for the past 56 years and spent summer vacations at their family home in Southport, Maine.
For their first date, Lois invited Ken to attend a Glen Gould concert at Carnegie Hall. For their second date, Ken invited Lois to attend a N.Y. Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. This started a shared passion for sports and the arts over their 65 year marriage.
Ken and Lois have four daughters, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
