East Syracuse based non-profit Tillie’s Touch is currently seeking assistance from the community for donations to purchase back-to-school essentials in order to fill backpacks for students at their annual Tillie’s Touch Youth Day Picnic, which will be held Aug. 27 at the Ellis Park Hanlon Pool in East Syracuse.
The organization is seeking donation of school supplies or monetary donations to purchase backpacks, loose leaf paper, pens, pencils, pencil boxes, glue sticks, markers, crayons, two-pocket folders, three-ring binders, spiral notebooks, composition notebooks and erasers to reach their goal of distributing over 600 backpacks, filled with supplies for children in the community.
They are also seeking donation of gently used children’s clothing, books, dental hygiene items and sports equipment to distribute at the event. Volunteers are also needed for the event. Monetary donations can be used as a charitable donation for tax purposes.
A donation and can drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout the village of East Syracuse. Place all items to be donated in plastic bags and place them near your mail box or at the end of driveway.
