Too cold for a trip to the library? Explore the Cazenovia Public Library’s digital collection and borrow material from home.
The library encourages its patrons to embrace the digital age. In addition to thousands of print books and other traditional resources, the library offers several services beyond its shelves. A library card provides access to some of the best digital media services available, including Hoopla Digital, OverDrive, RBdigital, and more. Discover these platforms by clicking MyLibrary2Go on the library home page.
The library’s partnership with Hoopla Digital allows cardholders to instantly explore, borrow and enjoy content on their computers, tablets, phones or TVs. The service provides public access to thousands of movies, music albums, audiobooks, ebooks, comics and TV shows.
Titles can be streamed immediately through a desktop browser or through the free Hoopla Mobile app (available for download from the App Store or Google Play). Hoopla Mobile can also be used to download titles for offline viewing on a phone or tablet. Titles are automatically returned and removed from a device at the end of the lending period. There are no waiting periods for popular titles and no late fees.
OverDrive also provides free access to eBooks, audiobooks and videos from Mid-York Library System’s digital collection. Patrons can enjoy borrowed material instantly on their computers or download items directly to their mobile devices with the free OverDrive, Kindle or Libby apps. Libby, by OverDrive, is a brand new app designed to streamline and enhance the experience of borrowing and enjoying digital material (ebooks and audiobooks only).
RBdigital is the world’s largest digital library newsstand. It provides an online collection of full color, interactive digital magazines. Patrons can stream their favorite magazines online or download a copy to their tablets or smartphones using the free RBdigital app.
The Mid-York Library system subscribes to over 160 digital titles. Readers can access new issues as soon as they are released in print and catch up on older titles they may have missed. Users can read entire magazines, zoom in on photos, watch embedded videos and follow web links. Browse Mid York’s collection of titles one at a time, by title, by language or by category.
The library also provides digital resources for those interested in exploring the rich history of the Cazenovia area or investigating their own family histories. Visit the Online Cazenovia Newspapers Archive to discover hundreds of issues of Cazenovia newspapers, including The Pilot (beginning in 1808) and The Republican (beginning in 1854).
From the comfort of home, family historians can access HeritageQuest Online to find their ancestors, trace their paths across America, and learn what life was like in the areas where they settled. The service delivers an invaluable collection of genealogical and historical sources, with coverage dating back to the 1700s.
These services are made possible by Friends of the Library funding.
