The Cazenovia Lions Club recently teamed up with the Morrisville and Pompey Lions Clubs to purchase a Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screener, which will allow the organization to provide free vision screenings to children ages six months to six years.
The clubs raised a combined $7,000 to purchase the screener.
The mission of Lions SEE, Inc. (Screening Eyes Early) is to decrease childhood blindness through early detection and treatment of the most common vision disorders that cause Amblyopia — insuring that all children of New York State will be able to SEE their future.
Members of the three Lions Club chapters will meet in Cazenovia this Saturday to review their screening procedures and demonstrate the new screening device. The meeting will occur at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, in the Cazenovia Public Library community room, and is open to the public.
Anyone interested in learning more about the Lions SEE (Screening Eyes Early) program is encouraged to attend.
The Cazenovia Lions vision screening program is dedicated to the memory of Lions Ken Barrett and Helen Muller for their years of leadership. Both were longtime advocates and supporters of Lions vision related projects. The club offered their thanks to the Muller family for helping them raise the funds to purchase the device, according to a club release.
