Funds raised will support local parents who have children with special needs or a life threatening illness.
The third annual Taste of David’s Refuge fundraising event raised $96,000 to support local parents who have children with special needs or a life threatening illness. Nearly 200 people attended the Sept. 9 event at the Beak & Skiff 1911 Café and Tasting Room.
“We are speechless,” said Warren Pfohl, Co-Founder of David’s Refuge. “Since David’s Refuge began just five years ago in our home, it is hard to believe that this growth is possible. We are so honored that so many local businesses and people believe in our mission.”
The 1911 Barn was filled with foods from local establishments like Sherwood Inn, Brae Loch, Gannon’s Ice Cream, Murphy’s Specialized Pastry and Carrabba’s. Beak and Skiff served their drink selection along with Apple Mac n’ Cheese, a crowd favorite. Empire Brewing Co supplied their craft beer for the guests.
“This event will ensure our present and our future,” said Kate Houck, executive director. “We are growing to serve even more families in 2017 and just seeing all the incredible people supporting David’s Refuge gives us the ability and the confidence to keep moving forward with our mission.”
