The Limestone Creek Hunt Club’s annual Parade of Hounds, signifying the start of the official “hunt” season, will start at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at the village green on Emory Avenue. The parade will go to Sullivan and then Albany streets, around the corner by the Brae Loch and go on to Lorenzo. Following the parade there will be the traditional Blessing of the Hounds on the meadow by Lorenzo (approximately 9:30 a.m.).
Joining LCH for this year’s Opening Meet are members of the Beaver Meadow Foxhounds of Ontario, Canada and the Green Mountain Hounds of Jericho, Vt.
Spectators are welcomed to attend either of these traditional events. It is asked that no dogs, pets, animals, or other furry things be brought as it will get the hounds extra excited as well as over-excite the pet.
Limestone Creek Hunt holds a number of activities during the year, including trail rides, hunter paces, the Carriage Trail Run (for humans, not horses), hunt clinics and educational activities. There is also a Hunt Ball held in late October.
As the Hunt is a 501(c)3 all of these activities are designed to aid in the education of future foxhunters with the express idea that LCH can preserve foxhunting traditions and further the sport of foxhunting while promoting conservation, preservation and good land stewardship.
Individuals who are interested in more information about LCH activities should contact the LCH President Mrs. Brian (Jenny) Coughlin at 655-5997.
