More than two dozen student artists from Cazenovia High School has received awards in the 2016 Scholastic Art Show, which will take place at Onondaga Community College from Jan. 14 to Feb. 26, with the Gold Key ceremony occurring on opening night.
This is the Sectionals and and States for art students in the states and the country. There were more than 4,600 works of art submitted from the Central New York region, which is the second-largest region in the national competition. Cazenovia had 42 students participate in this year’s competition, who submitted 118 works of art. Of this work, seven seniors submitted portfolios, which is a collection of eight works of art that represent their hard work, dedication and growth as artists throughout their Cazenovia career.
Senior portfolios were submitted by Kaylee Cunningham, Anjali Harris, Jack Strong, Katie Davis, Mya Walters, Tori Fischer and Madelyn Wolsey.
Individual work was submitted by Anna Barrett, Emma Berry, Jillian Britton, Hannah Brod, Olivia Catania, Caitlin Clonan, Carson Clonan, Suzu Davis, Salomon DeLeon, Keera Dwyer, Meerae Firkins, Maria Groetz, Ava Gurney, Elliot Hale, Olivia Hodge, Janie Kempf, Taylor Ketcham, Sydney Levinson, Lily Loveless, Vitaliy Moskvich, Dasha Nakhabtseva, Ari Papini, Trevor Reagan, Katie Robbins, Megan Seeley, Elizabeth Shepard, Tori Slocum, Matt Stanford, Jake Stowell, Cole Strong, Olivis Weiler, Stevie West, Mikaylee Whalen, Bella Wheeler and Connor Yorks.

Cazenovia’s Gold Key winners’ work will now go on to the National Scholastic Art Show, which is in Washington, D.C.
Much of the student art is, and will be, displayed outside the high school main office.
