ONONDAGA COUNTY – A particularly good trait of any strong bowling team is the ability to take a strong game and perform anywhere, even if the surroundings and lane conditions are unfamiliar.
The Baldwinsville boys bowling team offered quite an example of this on Dec. 20 when it ventured to Green Lakes Lanes and put away Fayetteville-Manlius 7-0 to improve its overall record to 4-2.
Jordan Sevigny got started with a 237 game, then really cranked it up with 10 strikes in his second-game 279 before closing with a 225 to produce a three-game total of 741.
Zenon Gasiorowski started with 192, but then roared to 258 and 249 for a 699 series, while Wes Lell had games of 223 and 224 in his 624 set and Scott Ritcey’s 619 series included opening and closing games of 213.
Liam Curry fired a 239 in his lone game, Caleb Hawthorne chimed in shooting a 222 game in his intital outing and Liam Reedy had games of 200 and 193.
As this went on B’ville girls team lost to F-M 7-0 despite a close pinfall – 2,548 for the Bees, 2,623 for the Hornets.
What made the difference was that five Hornets shot between 479 and 525 for their series while just three Bees bowlers reached those totals.
Sam Hass shot a 625 series with two games of 217 after an opening 191 and Lizzy Hildreth went 179, 201 and 191 in her three-game total of 571. Morgan Diecuch finished with a 484 series.
Two days before Christmas B’ville found itself in another big match, this time against Cicero-North Syracuse, and easily won on the girls side 7-0.
Hass shot 210 and 207 games in her 567 series, while Diecuch began with a 235 in her 541 series and Hildreth opened with a 196 in her 511 set, both ahead of the top opposing series of 463 from Trinity Short.
The boys match saw B’ville get a pinfall of 3,628 to C-NS’s 3,615, yet take a 5-2 defeat on the scoreboard.
Gasiorowski led with a 634 series and games of 236 and 214. Reedy shot 199, 212 and 203 in his 614 set and Sevigny got a 603 series (215 high game), with Lell shooting a 594 seriers and Curry putting up a 254 in his initial game.
Nehemiah Bachmann got C-NS going with a 268, fell to 177 but finished with 231 in his 676 series. Garrett Arnold’s steady 221, 224 and 210 got a 655 series, with Cameron Miller’s 226 part of a 607 series and Terry Miller shooting a 599 set as Hunter Baciuska stepped up with a 187, 202 and 200 for a 589 series.
