SYRACUSE – Francis House will host its annual fundraising event There’s No Place Like Home on Wednesday, Oct. 11, and leading the planning committee in 2023 are Event Chairs Art and Anne Palermo of Fayetteville and Vice Chairs Mark and Sandy Baker of Baldwinsville.
“We actively support the mission of Francis House. The staff, caregivers and volunteers provide exceptional compassion and care to the residents. We look forward to working with the Francis House planning committee and event Vice Chairs Mark and Sandy Baker, to bring a spectacular event to the community this fall,” said Art Palermo.
“The work that Francis House does in our community is one of the greatest gifts that people can receive,” Sandy Baker said. “We know how difficult the end of life can be and should be spent in peace and dignity, surrounded by love and compassion. Francis House does just that.”
“We are honored to be serving with Anne and Art Palermo in support of the staff, caregivers, and volunteers who make the mission of Francis House a reality,” added Mark Baker. “There’s No Place Like Home has special meaning to the thousands of families whose lives have been touched by this organization. The community’s support ensures that the Francis House mission continues.”
Francis House does not receive federal, state, county funding or insurance reimbursement, relying solely instead on the community’s generosity to operate. A significant source of funds for its operations comes from There’s No Place Like Home.
Francis House residents are those in the community who have received a terminal diagnosis. Francis House welcomes every resident regardless of age, faith, ethnicity, or ability to pay.
The Palermos and Bakers will lead an event planning committee of 28 dedicated members to secure sponsorships, solicit local businesses for auction items, and to sell advertisements for the event’s magazine.
There’s No Place Like Home will take place at the State Fair Exposition Center at the New York State Fairgrounds. Attended by more than 1,500 people annually, the popular community event is a crowd-pleaser thanks to its unique attendee experience.
Guests visit 10 prize houses and purchase keys to try their luck at opening the door of the house. The cornerstone of the event is its large auction featuring hundreds of items, trips, and experiences. Guests can bid both online (remotely) and in person.
Admission to the event remains at $50 per person, and includes an open bar of beer and wine, and delectable gourmet offerings from six food stations.
The event is ticketless. Digital registration is live. To register, visit TNPLH2023.givesmart.com or text the letters TNPLH2023 to 76278 to register through a smart phone.
