The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the death of two people found Oct. 6 in an apartment at the Landings at Meadowood in the village of Baldwinsville.
At approximately 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, Sheriff’s Deputies and the Baldwinsville Police Department responded to 311 Stonewood Lane for a 911 call reporting the possible death of two residents. Upon the arrival of officers, entry was made into the apartment, where a man and a woman were both discovered deceased.
Detectives have since identified the two deceased individuals as 68-year-old Richard Murphy and 31-year-old Heather Laca, both of 311 Stonewood Lane.
Sergeant Jon A. Seeber, Public Information Officer and Community Relations Supervisor for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, said the medical examiner’s report is still pending and the investigation is active.
“However, I can say that the cause of death to Murphy and Laca is gunshot. There is no danger to the community and the incident was isolated to the apartment,” Seeber wrote in an email. “Anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigation Division at 315-435-3081.”
