The holiday season is approaching! If you are interested in a free home delivery meal on Christmas Day, call Canton Woods outreach workers at 638-4536. This is a service of the Rescue Mission. These meals are for elderly and/or homebound individuals. The recipient must be home on Christmas Day (Dec. 25) to receive the meal. The deadline to reserve meal for Christmas is Monday, Dec. 5.
Open enrollment period for Medicare Advantage and Medicare prescription drug coverage takes place through Dec. 7. The HIICAP (Health Insurance Information and Assistance Counseling) representative will be available at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Canton Woods if you need some unbiased guidance in making your decision.
HEAP 2016-17 (Home Energy Assistance Program) is now open. If you need assistance with a HEAP application, please contact your outreach workers at 638-4536.
National Grid Consumer Advocate will be at Canton Woods at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13. If you have any questions or concerns about your National Grid bill this is the opportunity to get answers.
Canton Woods Tree Lighting Ceremony is set for Friday, Dec. 2. Holiday entertainment is scheduled for 3 p.m. with tasty treats and the tree lighting to follow.
Canton Woods is pleased to announce Thomas Henry, retired social studies teacher and adjunct professor from SUNY Cortland, will present a program on Pearl Harbor. Mr. Henry will be at the center at 3 p.m. on Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 7. Please call and let us know you plan to attend. This is sure to be an interesting program.
Canton Woods now has a medication return collection unit. This is a safe and environmentally-friendly way to dispose of your unused medications. You may drop off your unused medication to the return box at Canton Woods from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Senior Nutrition. You can enjoy lunch at the center. Canton Woods is a senior nutrition lunch site on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Make a reservation (638-4536) and stop by at noon for lunch. The nutrition program is open to anyone 60 years of age and older. Suggested donation is $2.75.
Wondering what’s for lunch? On Wednesday Dec. 7, the lunch menu includes Syracuse’s famous chicken riggies, crisp chef’s salad, juicy diced peaches and fresh baked garlic breadstick. Make your reservation and join us for a delicious lunch served at noon!
