At its Sept. 19 meeting, the Village of Liverpool Board of Trustees approved the hiring of four new village employees.
αPart-time Liverpool Police Officer Paul Flickner will fill a full-time opening in the department, pending Civil Service review. Flickner was hired as a part-timer on June 21.
Mayor Gary White, a former deputy chief for the Syracuse Police Department, said Flickner has excelled in the area of traffic enforcement here.
• Longtime Deputy Code Enforcement Officer Kurt Fields retired earlier this year, and he’ll be replaced with a new part-timer, David Weber. White cited Weber’s background as a firefighter as one of his qualifications.
Weber will be paid $18 per hour, and he’s expected to log about eight hours a week assisting Village Code Enforcement Officer Bill Reagan.
• After veteran crossing guard Barbara Brown retired this summer, the village hired former Liverpool Public Library clerk Susan Bell to cross pedestrian students at the corner of Sixth and Oswego streets. Bell earns $11 an hour as a part-time crossing guard.
• The trustees also authorized the hiring of part-time court clerk September Giacchi. The daughter of longtime LPD clerk Brenda Giacchi, the new assistant court clerk will earn $15 per hour.
August police stats
Reporting on behalf of Liverpool Police Chief Don Morris, Trustee Matt Devendorf informed the village board at its Sept. 19 meeting that officers issued 241 citations for violations of the state’s vehicle and traffic laws in August, after making a total of 352 traffic stops. One arrest was made for driving while intoxicated and 14 traffic accidents were investigated last month.
Officers conducted 120 residential checks last month and responded to a total of 600 complaints and calls for service.
The LPD arrested 23 individuals in August on a total of 42 criminal charges.
