Baldwinsville Community Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars is pleased to announce that local volunteer Sandra Lamb has been selected by Scholarship America as the 2016 Ralph “Cy” Seifert National Volunteer of the Year.
The Volunteer of the Year award honors and recognizes individual Dollars for Scholars affiliate volunteers who are instrumental in successfully guiding the course of Dollars for Scholars, a program of Scholarship America, in a significant and beneficial way.
Lamb has been a vital member of the community and school district for many years. She has worked at C.S. Baker High School in the Career Resource Center, assisting students and their families with college searches and scholarships. She has been the coordinator of the Baldwinsville Community Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars Phone-a-thon, held every March. Lamb has been the event organizer for the foundation’s Moving Up Day event and has served as a board member for over 15 years, acting as recording secretary.
“Dollars for Scholars is made possible by volunteers like Sandra who play a vital role in making postsecondary success possible for students,” said Robert C. Ballard, Scholarship America president and CEO. “Scholarship America is thrilled to recognize Sandra for her dedication through this national award.”
In order to be eligible for Volunteer of the Year, a nominee must demonstrate exemplary involvement with Dollars for Scholars at a consistently high level.
In addition to a $1,000 regional prize, Lamb will receive an additional $2,000 for Baldwinsville Community Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars for her national award, as well as be recognized nationally for her contributions.
“There is no one more deserving of this recognition than Sandy,” said Chris Hayden, another Baldwinsville Community Scholarship Foundation board member.
