To the editor:
I certainly hope that the headline for Russ Tarby’s news story was printed in error! “Safety First?”
My concerns for the danger of Onondaga Lake Parkway have been voiced a number of times to numerous people. It is a treacherous road which was not designed to carry a huge volume of traffic. To the families of those who have been in serious or fatal accidents on the Parkway, that headline is upsetting, inconsiderate and thoughtless. Using a question mark in the headline as though planning improvements to stop crossover accidents is something that needs to be questioned!
My youngest son was in a crossover accident on the Parkway so needless to say, the question mark on the headline is upsetting. Our dear friends’ son was killed on the Parkway in a crossover accident.
This is a dangerous road, made even worse when there is wind and snow on it. Any effort that the state is making to stop these accidents is of the upmost importance.
The Star-Review will hopefully print a retraction and apology for this careless headline.
