To the editor:
While some may have lamented the winter storm on Feb. 7, organizers of Stone Quarry Hill Art Park’s third annual snow drawings rejoiced at the perfect canvas that was delivered for the event as part of Winter Festival Weekend in Cazenovia.
Though the lighting was not ideal for the drone photographers recruited to capture aerial images of the public art inspired by artist Sonja Hinrichsen, those in attendance enjoyed meeting new and returning participants and exploring the beauty of the Park in winter.
Thank you to the Cazenovia Central School Physical Education Department, Rogers Environmental Education Center and Colgate University Outdoor Education Program for providing snowshoes for the event. Additional thanks to Empire Farm Brewery for providing a discount on pints for participants.
Connecting art, nature and people is central to SQHAP’s mission and the annual snow drawing event clearly fulfills this criterion.
