To the editor:
I am writing to show my support for Tim McMahon, Democratic nominee for Manlius town judge.
I work at Crouse Hospital Emergency Services as a physician assistant, and would not be working in the profession if not for Tim’s encouragement. I have been friends with Tim since childhood and our friendship has lasted through college, graduate school and distance.
Tim eventually went to law school and I graduated with a master’s in exercise science/athletic training. As we grew into our careers as young adults, Tim pushed me back on track toward a career in medicine. While I attended PA school and he attended law school, I grew to rely on our conversations to put my stress and workload in perspective.
Tim was always calm while working hard at law school and balancing his life, somehow finding time to be on the school’s law review. Although our professional training was very different, he was empathetic to my experiences and always offered the best advice or much-needed laugh.
The years we spent in professional school demonstrate two of the traits I admire most about Tim: his dedication and pragmatism. Since high school, Tim has always put in more work than required for whatever he undertakes, whether it be his career or playing sports. His unmatched work ethic in law school has only continued in his professional career. He is always eager to learn every facet of the law and execute it fairly. He conducts countless hours of research to ensure he can make the best decision.
Tim’s approach to personal relationships has always been equally contemplative, where he has always been known to be the sensible one in our group of friends. He listens to both sides of every story and ultimately offers reasonable solutions for the situation at hand. Those who know Tim know he is methodical with his approach of life’s situations – whether in law, between friends or on the field refereeing a game – to ensure a fair and just outcome, and that he is very passionate about and committed to his work.
Tim is one of the most ethical, impartial and intelligent people I know. I am lucky to call him a friend for almost 25 years. I know all the attributes Tim has in his personal life, he carries over into his career. As town judge I know he will be even more committed and dedicated to the community he will be serving.
