To the editor:
I am writing to express my support for Kristi Andersen’s re-election to the town board.
I have worked with Kristi for over eight years and have always looked to her as an example of what a public servant should look like. I have long admired her thoughtful, rational consideration of issues and her sensible, logical solutions. She has shown her dedication to our community not only through her willingness to serve in an elected capacity, but also through her steady involvement in an array of other community organizations.
The main reason I would like to see Kristi continue at this particular time is that she has been chairing the committee that is considering possible consolidation of the town and village. This issue has been perking along quietly but has the potential to be one of the biggest decisions the two boards make in their history, with possible impact on services, taxes and culture.
As usual, Kristi has been managing this assignment with typical thoroughness and care. This is an extremely complex evaluation process; there are some areas in which the two municipalities are already sharing services very efficiently, there are other areas which appear to be ripe to be added, and there are yet other areas which are going to prove quite difficult. We have a long way to go in the process, and I would very much like to see Kristi continue to be the one to manage it.
Experience is going to matter as we make this decision, and we will need the expertise and practical knowledge of all 10 members of the two boards. Kristi has 12 incredibly valuable years under her belt. It is hard to imagine losing her at this point. She is also a village resident, so I know that she has an ability to see things from the perspective of both sets of residents.
Please support Kristi on November 7.
