To the editor:
As an educator with over 30 years of experience, I have worked with a multitude of Board of Education members in three school districts. I applaud the effort and dedication they have all demonstrated through their community service whether I always agreed with them or not.
I am encouraged by BOE members who serve on school boards to serve the greater good of the school community. A school district needs to make decisions for the good of all stakeholders. A school board has the difficult task of balancing educational excellence and opportunity with fiscal responsibility. This task becomes easier when people represent all facets of the community with an open mind and a thorough understanding of the educational and financial processes. I believe Stewart Weisman is such a candidate who will serve the F-M school district in the most professional manner. Stu’s legal background and involvement on various education and community boards, give him the experience needed to be a supportive colleague, a reflective listener and an inquisitive mind to process BOE matters.
As a trained counselor, I am impressed by Stu’s communication skills. His easy going manner makes you want to engage in conversation with him (his sense of humor is a bonus as well). Mr. Weisman’s children are F-M graduates, so he has no motive to serve on a school board, other than as a taxpayer and his commitment to public service. I believe he is a prototype for an elected official and am pleased to encourage all of you to make him a member of the F-M Board of Education.
