To the editor:
I am writing to strongly encourage Fayetteville-Manlius residents to vote for Dan Seidberg in the FM Board of Education election on Tuesday, May 16. Not only have I known him for quite a few years as a fellow FM parent whose children attend school with mine, but most recently I’ve been privileged to serve with him on the FM Education Foundation.
When we both became board members on the Foundation a year and a half ago, the organization was for all intents and purposes defunct. Our job, as new board members (along with the other board members), was to revamp it and bring it back to life so that FM students could benefit from its programs again. From day one, Dan threw himself into this cause without hesitation. Dan volunteered to revise and redraft all of the legal documents that were needed to get the Foundation running again, along with doing many other time intensive tasks dealing with state laws, taxes, banking and insurance. I can’t begin to imagine how many late nights he put into getting all of this done (and continues to do so).
Over this time, the Foundation has had many meetings, discussions and decisions to make. During these times, Dan has shown utmost respect for other people’s opinions, while at the same time being diligent to ask questions and find out important facts before forming his own opinion. I know he would do the same if he is elected to the FM Board of Education.
And why does Dan do all of this work for the Foundation, along with all of his other volunteer commitments? Because he truly cares about providing the best experience and education possible for our students in FM. It is that passion combined with his strong work ethic and diligence that makes Dan the person we truly need on the FM Board of Education.
