To the editor:
Nov. 8 promises to be an exciting day for residents of Onondaga County and specifically for alumni and educators of the North Syracuse Central School District. Together, with residents of five additional counties including Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida and Oswego, we have the distinct privilege to elect Scott DelConte, Cicero North Syracuse High School class of 1991, to the esteemed office of New York State Supreme Court’s Fifth Judicial District.
Scott grew up in Cicero. His father, Joseph DelConte, was a guidance counselor in the Syracuse School District and his mother, Nancy, was a homemaker. Scott received a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences at Cornell University, graduating in 1995. It was at Cornell that he met his wife of 20 years, Heather Walter DelConte.
Scott decided to pursue a law career when he realized his desire to use his skills, talent, and education to help people solve complicated problems. A student of law at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va., Scott graduated cum laude in 1998. He and Heather then chose to return home to Central New York to begin their careers and raise a family.
The DelConte family resides in Oswego, where he is a member of Bond, Schoeneck & King, managing the firm’s regional office. A man of impeccable reputation, he has grown tremendously in his profession representing large companies, small businesses, farms, families and individuals in matters ranging from commercial claims, products liability, contract actions, personal injury, appeals and estate planning.
However, Scott is much more than a lawyer. He is a father of four children, a dedicated husband and proud to call himself a farmer. He, Heather and the children raise registered Hereford beef cattle and heritage sheep on their Oswego County farm. He is also an avid hunter, fisherman and American history enthusiast.
Scott is an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Oswego, teaching Sunday School and chair of the Safe Sanctuary Committee. He also serves as the chancellor to the Upper New York Methodist Conference, which includes more than 900 local churches. Scott volunteers with both the Oswego County 4-H Program and the Oswego County Fair.
The 2016 national election, regardless of party registration, has been one of disgrace to most Americans. On Nov. 8, we have the opportunity to cast our ballot for a man we all can be proud of. It is uplifting to be able to vote for a respected man whose primary desire is to serve the residents of New York state as a Supreme Court justice.
Please share Scott’s story with your friends and families and vote for Scott DelConte on Row A on Nov. 8.
