LIVERPOOL — Anybody who’s spent any amount of time outdoors — or looking out the window, for that matter — around here of late can attest that winter surely settled in.
Liverpool Public Library patrons can celebrate the rest of February with the second half of the Winter Reading Challenge 2022. The online reading clubs for adults, teens and children will be going strong through Monday, Feb. 28.
Continue pursuing missions at lplny10.readsquared.com, read and log books, enjoy the fun activities and earn points toward raffle prizes. There’s a Reading Bingo Challenge that will start on Feb. 18, with forms that will be available at lpl.org and in the library. If you’ve yet to sign up, new adult, teen and children’s club registrations are still welcome at lplny10.readsquared.com.
“February may be short on days, but it is long on fun when you join the Winter Reading Challenge,” said Community Engagement staffer Cindy Hibbert. “Log your reading and enjoy the Library Lover’s mission activities. For an extra challenge, go back and complete January’s activities. Points, tickets, prizes!”
Teens can find plenty of missions, too. “Teens can share their love of libraries and take on new Winter Reading Challenges in February,” said Teen Librarian Laurel Griffin, “including participating in random acts of kindness week, a weeklong library-themed bingo that can be done in the library or from home, and reading challenges for Black History Month and s(h)elf love reads.”
Family and Children’s Services librarian Deanna McGregor says the clubs can unite families.
“The Winter Reading Challenge gives parents an accountability feature that helps them reach their children’s reading goals,” she said. “But mostly, they enjoy the incentive to cozy-up and read together.”
