LIVERPOOL — The spirit of Halloween kicks off early at the Liverpool Public Library.
Families can jump into a car and drive through the thrilling loop off Tulip Street from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, for Haunted Garage II.
With the support of community business and organizations, the LPL underground garage will be transformed into a circuit of spooky holiday fun.
You never know which of your favorite book characters might show up during your drive! Keep your eyes wide open, drive slowly though the garage’s exhibits, and get a great jump start to Halloween.
Admission is free. Donations of canned goods will be accepted at the event.
Sponsors include LPL Homeschool Families, Ballantyne Gardens, Help Me Grow Onondaga, Studio B Dance Co., Rooftop Realty, Liverpool Community Gardeners, Liverpool Central School District Librarians and Greater Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.
Those who appreciate hearing a good Halloween tale told can tune into Halloween Stories with Mary Rys, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23. Seats for the in-person event in the Carman Community Room to hear the wily storytelling ways of the popular former Liverpool Central School District educator filled up fast. There is a waiting list available for registration on our website calendar page, and any available seats will be granted from that list.
Rys has a way with words that goes far beyond her voice. When she presided over a five-day Storytelling Camp at the LPL this summer as part of the Let’s Read, Liverpool! program, the student attendees paid great attention to the way she used her body to emphasize every passage and emotion, too.
We’ll also be presenting Rys’ storytelling event on our YouTube Channel, with her scary stories available on your screen. Find the event streamed live and by video afterward at youtube.com/channel/UCL_hHqJdHFdtKwOUBIRTGig.
