CICERO — At the Northern Onondaga Public Library (NOPL), April is filled with crafts for kids. As spring break comes to an end, NOPL starts a month full of art and discovery. From Brewerton to North Syracuse to curbside craft kits to videos on YouTube, NOPL is here to get children of all ages crafting.
The first craft activity starts April 1 with an educational Color Theory Kit. Kids and parents can follow along with Miss Nicole on YouTube to create a colorful craft that teaches the basics of color theory. Craft kits can be picked up at the Brewerton branch library any time in April.
The next craft on the calendar is Spring Crafts for Kids on April 3. Follow along with Miss Raena to make a cool coffee-filter craft, such as a butterfly, a butterfly crown, and pretty paper flowers. Kits with the materials you need will be available to pick up from the Cicero branch library during April, but you can also make these crafts with items you already have at home.
Saturday, April 10, is all about dinosaurs! Join Miss Raena for a Dinosaur Puppet Play for Kids program with games, puppets, and stories for the younger kids. Dinosaur kits to make your dinosaur puppet are available for pick up from the Cicero branch library during April.
For the older kids age 7-12, Miss Sarah from NOPL’s North Syracuse branch has an Earth Day Celebration where kids will learn what they can do to help save the planet. Watch Miss Sarah perform simple science experiments that can be replicated at home. Use materials from around the house, or when you register, receive a reusable 8-ounce water bottle that you can color. You must register in advance for this program as it is a Zoom meet-up occurring at 1 p.m. April 24; visit nopl.org/events to sign up.
All crafting YouTube videos will premiere on their listed date at 10 a.m. Craft kits are first come, first served, while supplies last. Call the appropriate NOPL branch to request a pick-up of the selected craft kit by scheduling a browsing appointment or using NOPL’s curbside service. Call the Brewerton Library at 315-676-7484, Cicero Library at 315-699-2032, or North Syracuse Library at 315-458-6184.
