This week, we are introducing a new feature in the Star-Review, inspired by the popular Baldwinsville History Mystery column that appears in the Baldwinsville Messenger. Each week, History Mystery North will feature a photograph from the northern suburbs’ past contributed by historians in Cicero, Clay, Liverpool and North Syracuse. It’s up to you, the readers, to figure out the story behind each photo. Are you up to the challenge?
Question: This log cabin was one of the oldest structures in the town of Clay. Having two different types of construction, it originally had a center fireplace, but later the Rod and Gun Club built one on the southern end. It has had many owners and uses since the later 1700s. Where was it?
Email your guess to [email protected] or leave a message at 315-434-8889 ext. 332 with your guess by noon Friday. If you are the first person to correctly identify an element in the photo before the deadline, your name and guess will appear in next week’s newspaper, along with another History Mystery feature. History Mystery is a joint project of the Star-Review and area historians in Cicero, Clay, Liverpool and North Syracuse.
