The North Syracuse branch of the Northern Onondaga Public Library (NOPL) is hosting “Pulitzer Campfire Readings: Reaching for the American Dream,” a reading and discussion series developed and sponsored by Humanities New York.
Five novels that have won the Pulitzer Prize award for literature will be read through the course of this series. During the discussions, participants will consider how the authors have depicted the struggles of Americans to better themselves and achieve the American dream over the past century.
Book selections include “A Visit from the Goon Squad” by Jennifer Egan, “Humboldt’s Gift” by Saul Bellow, “American Pastoral” by Philip Roth, “Interpreter of Maladies” by Jhumpa Lahiri, and “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.”
Meetings in the series will be held at 6:00 p.m. at NOPL North Syracuse on Mar. 19, Apr. 9 and 30, May 21 and Jun. 11. Attendance at all program dates is encouraged, and the book selections will be available for borrowing at the first session.
NOPL North Syracuse is located at 100 Trolley Barn Lane, North Syracuse. For more information about the program, please contact the library at (315) 458-6184.
