We are settled back into our space at Canton Woods. Thanks again to the Baldwinsville Volunteer Fire Department for the use of their building while we were displaced. I would also like to thank the Village of Baldwinsville DPW for facilitating the move.
April is National Volunteer Month! The Baldwinsville community benefits from the time and talents of volunteers. This is true at Canton Woods as well. At our Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon Canton Woods acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the many volunteers who keep the center running smoothly. Thank you! Volunteers have a positive impact in our community and make so many good things happen.
Art Group meets at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25 at Canton Woods. This group is facilitated by retired B’ville art teacher, Mike Conway. The group focuses on drawing and painting. Bring your sketchbook and art supplies. The Art Group will have its first show in May at Canton Woods! The reception will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16.
The performance by Sentimental Serenade has been rescheduled for 3 p.m. Monday May 8. Sentimental Serenade presents “Here’s to the Ladies.” The show features all songs made famous by female artists. Be sure to mark your calendar so you do not miss this performance.
In May we also welcome Baldwinsville’s own George Leija back to Canton Woods. George will perform at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 11.
AARP Defensive Driving class is scheduled for Tuesday, May 9. The class is 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Classes fill up quickly. Call Canton Woods for more information and to sign up; (315) 638-4536.
Canton Woods has a medication return collection unit. This is a safe and environmentally-friendly way to dispose of your unused medications. You may drop off your unused medication to the return box at Canton Woods from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Senior Nutrition. You can enjoy lunch at the center. Canton Woods is a senior nutrition lunch site on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Make a reservation at (315) 638-4536 and stop by at noon for lunch. The nutrition program is open to anyone 60 years of age and older. Suggested donation is $3.
Wondering what’s for lunch? On Friday, April 28, the menu includes baked lemon pepper chicken breast, zesty mashed sweet potatoes, Parmesan Brussels sprouts, and spice cake with walnut cream cheese frosting. Make a reservation and join us for lunch!
