From the Liverpool Public Library: How does your garden grow?

It’s that time of year when you can’t help but think about spring.

Officially, the season of growth and renewal is here. Calendar-wise, at least.

The folks at Ballantyne Gardens Landscaping and Garden Center, the cool spot on Hopkins Road where you can find plenty of ways to make your little place on Earth better, are thinking ahead to greener days, too.

Owners Tim and Lisa Ballantyne and their staff know what they’re talking about when it comes to growing in the Liverpool climate.

Veggies and Herbs 101 will tackle that challenge, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 27, in the LPL’s Carman Community Room.

Ballantyne gardening experts will share tips on how best to produce herbs, leafy greens, tomatoes, peppers and more. Patrons will find out how to come out on the other side of spring and summer with a grand garden, no matter the size of the space that can be set aside for the purpose.

As they promise on their web site: “We help you build good, healthy soil and plant in the right place, at the right time, in the right way. You’ll be well on a path to success before you even begin to dig.”

The event is free and open to all.
