ELBRIDGE — Great job to the National Junior Honor Society, as the group celebrates the success of a recent fundraiser.
NJHS hosted its annual Hilarious Holiday Fundraiser last month to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and surpassed its goal of raising $500 for children and families battling cancer and other illnesses.
Thanks to the donation, the hospital was able to purchase several red wagons for their patients. These wagons are used to carry small children back to their rooms to rest after receiving chemotherapy treatments. The children are usually very tired after the chemo, but their eyes light up when they see the wagons, decked out in soft, colorful blankets, stuffed toys, and ribbons. Due to the NJHS’ hard work, children and their families at St. Jude’s Hospital had a little extra support during the holidays.
The fundraiser was also a hit at the middle school. Kids paid $1 to vote for a teacher whom they wanted to see dressed in a hilarious holiday costume. Even teachers got into the competition, placing votes on each other to increase the spirit. In the end, Mr. Canino, one of the design teachers, sported the inflatable Santa suit.
