Cazenovia — Cazenovia College has received a $750,000 grant from New York State’s Higher Education Capital (HECap) Matching Grant program in support of the Jephson Campus Building “A” renovation project. The program, administered by the Dormitory Authority, funds the renovation or construction of essential academic facilities and high-tech projects at private, nonprofit colleges and universities across the state.
Cazenovia College will use the grant to help complete its $3 million renovation project of the historic Building “A” at Jephson Campus on Albany Street, which serves the College’s highly regarded Art and Design Division. Construction is expected to be completed by late summer 2016.
“Cazenovia College thanks Governor Cuomo, our elected officials and the state Dormitory Authority, administrators of the grant program for this funding,” said Interim President Margery A. Pinet. “The updated Building ‘A’ on Jephson Campus will be a state-of-the-art facility with studios and work spaces for our faculty and students.”
State officials said they were pleased to see Cazenovia College receive the funding.
“This announcement is great news for the College and for the greater Cazenovia community as well. Renovation of the Jephson Campus is an exciting step forward in the growth of the college’s arts and design program that will attract more students and enhance the local economy,” said State Sen. David J. Valesky.
Assemblyman Bill Magee said, “The renovations to Cazenovia College’s Jephson Campus will provide greater opportunities for both students and administrators to maximize the popular Division of Art and Design programs. The project will facilitate continuing efforts to provide state-of-the-art workspace and structural renovations with respect to historic preservation, in keeping with the tradition of Cazenovia College and the local community.”
