Christian Brothers Academy is proud to announce that student-athlete Matthew DePerro has signed his letter of intent to continue his intercollegiate athletic career.
DePerro, the son of Dennis and Sherry DePerro of Baldwinsville, will be attending Providence College next fall to major in business and will be a member of the Friar soccer team.
DePerro was named All-American this past season and was nominated as a Gatorade Player of the Year candidate. He finished the 2015 campaign leading the team in goals (21) and assists (13). He was named All-Region, All-State, All-CNY Player of the Year and All-League Player of the Year. DePerro recently received the Syracuse Sports Corporation’s Believe to Achieve Award.
DePerro joins the Friar soccer program which was recently ranked ninth on USA Today’s List of 10 Best Soccer Schools. The Friars earned this recognition after its successful 2014 season, capturing an NCAA Tournament berth, advancing to the final four and winning the BIG EAST Championship title for the first time in program history, combined with the college boasting an 83% four-year graduation rate.
CBA now has 11 members of the Class of 2016 who will be attending a Division I institution and will be participating in intercollegiate athletics. In the fall, 10 girls lacrosse players signed their Division I Letters of Intent.
